The east side, aka the ``Coconut Coast`` is lined with palm trees, as it once was a coconut plantation. Coconut Marketplace has a mix of stores and casual family dining options. The east side of Kauai also home to Wailua Falls, a 173-foot waterfall located near Lihue that feeds into the Wailua River. Enjoy kayaking along the river, the iconic Smith’s Luau or take in the views from Sleeping Giant. With 40-60 inches of rain per year, the east side had a moderate amount of sun.
